A CAR licence plate that looks like it reads “Durham” has sold for more than £2,500.
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) today (Wednesday, March 20) began a three-day auction of personalised registration plates at the De Vere Village Hotel, in Leeds.
The DU12 HAM plate sold for £2,600 which with a buyer’s premium and VAT will rise to £3,449.60.
The reserve price was £1,000.
The buyer has asked to remain anonymous and is being described as a mystery businessman who lives outside the area.
