FUTURISTIC mechanical machines will be taking centre stage at one of the region’s top attractions this weekend.
The National Railway Museum in York is celebrating National Science & Engineering Week with robots of all shapes and sizes in live demonstrations and battles.
The museum has teamed up with Robots Live to explore this year’s theme of invention and discovery for the action packed event on March 23 and 24.
And the undisputed stars will be the motorized veterans of the hugely popular TV show Robot Wars who will be fighting it out in a specially-built arena.
In between the battles there will also be live demonstrations – including a full-size Dalek – and children can then put what they’ve seen into practice as they attempt to create their very own simple robot in an interactive craft activity.
Events co-ordinator Noel Hartley said: “We are really proud to have been involved in NSEW for over a decade and look forward to showing everyone how much fun science is through our wide range of workshops and shows.”
