A SEMI-RETIRED farmer has been reunited with one of his two dogs which were stolen last week.

David Amsden, of Preston-under-Scar, near Leyburn, North Yorkshire, travelled to Darlington on Tuesday (March 19), where 14-year-old Sally had been handed in to dog wardens.

Eight-year-old Emma, who was also taken in the raid on Preston Moor Farm last week, remains unaccounted for.

Darlington Borough Council dog warden Andy Wood said Sally was handed in by a member of the public on Monday (March 18) afternoon, having apparently been found in Eastbourne Park.

He said investigations would be carried out as to Sally’s whereabouts prior to being handed in.

Describing the moment the pair were reunited, Mr Amsden said: “She was cowering in her kennel and had not been used to where she had been, but as soon as she saw it was me, her tail was wagging and she was jumping up on top of me.”

It is hoped Sally’s reappearance will also lead to Emma being recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.

The incident’s reference number is 1230041523.
