LANDMARK buildings across the region will be plunged into darkness for ‘Earth Hour’ this weekend (Saturday, March 23).
Between 8.30pm and 9.30pm, the lights will be turned off on museums, churches, businesses, schools, homes and more.
The exterior lights on Durham Castle will be turned out.
Sunderland Empire, Darlington’s Market Clock and various council buildings will also be in darkness.
Earth Hour is organised by the WWF charity, to focus attention on the planet and efforts to protect it.
