A ROAD accident caused rush-hour traffic jams in Darlington town centre last night.
At 6.15pm, a blue Vauxhall Astra estate collided with an articulated lorry outside Darlington fire station in St Cuthbert's Way.
Police closed one carriageway of St Cuthbert's Way, between Yarm Road and Victoria Road roundabouts, causing major tailbacks.
Police believe the Astra collided with the lorry while trying to switch lanes.
There were no serious injuries, but one woman was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital.
