A GROUP of pensioners have recorded a CD of their childhood Christmas memories to go with a selection of festive tunes.
The ladies have been working Mad Alice Theatre Company on the project for the last six weeks.
Children from St Pius X Primary School, The Grove and Consett Brass have sung carols and also provided musical accompaniment for the disc.
The idea was the brainchild of David Jackson, of Consett Brass, and launched today, Tuesday December 11, at Blackhill and Consett Park.
The theatre company’s artistic director Shelley O'Brien said: “The participants have had great fun and thoroughly enjoyed the project. They have produced an entertaining, evocative and poignant CD. It is a piece of local, social history too.”
The project was funded and co-produced by Colour Your Life at Leisureworks.
Next spring Mad Alice Theatre Company is hoping to a similar project based on summer memories and the steel industry.
The Christmas CD costs £5 a copy and can be bought by calling 01207-218-852.
