A NORTH Yorkshire vicar has been appointed as the temporary Archdeacon of York.
The Reverend Canon Sue Sheriff, vicar of Tadcaster, has agreed to take on the role until a permanent appointment is made.
The previous Archdeacon of York, the Venerable Richard Seed, retired in October and the diocese is currently advertising for his replacement.
The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu said: “Sue is a wonderful parish priest, and she will bring her skills and years of experience to the role of archdeacon.
“The churches in the archdeaconry will be in safe hands while we look for someone to fill the post permanently.”
