ADOPTIVE families across County Durham have celebrated their commitment to young people with a Christmas party.
More than 50 children got to say hello to Father Christmas at the annual festive get together which is organised by Durham County Council.
He took time out of his busy winter schedule to make the trip to Newton Aycliffe to spend time with some of the adoptive families who were also treated to party games and magic tricks.
Jessica Cowan, team manager, said: “It was wonderful to see so many of our adoptive families joining in the Christmas spirit and having fun.
“Adopted children can often feel as if they are the only ones who have been adopted and it really boosts their confidence to meet other children in similar families.
“It’s also a good chance for adoptive families to meet with other children in similar families and chat with social workers.
“We really enjoy seeing how the children are growing and developing.”
