A WOMAN has died in a three-vehicle collision in Northumberland.
The 52-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on the A69 motorway between Hexham and Haydon Bridge.
At 3.59pm yesterday, Northumbria Police, alongside fire and ambulance crews, attended the scene on the single stretch of motorway.
The collision involved a Ford Focus car, an Audi TT car and a Vauxhall van.
The driver of the Ford Focus, a 52-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Northumbria Police says it is not in a position to name the dead woman at present.
The 57-year-old male driver of the van suffered a broken arm and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment.
The driver of the Audi TT, a man aged 50, was uninjured following the incident.
The stretch of A69 was closed for four hours following the collision to allow for vehicle recovery and local diversions were put in place.
Further enquiries are continuing and Northumbia Police is urging any witnesses to come forward.
