A FIVE-month-old Miniature Dachshund named Sausage has been named the cutest canine in a hospice contest.
Sausage, owned by Andrew Beetham and Sally-Beth Marshall, has won Durham City’s St Cuthbert’s Hospice’s Durham Cutest Dog competition, held in August.
Ms Marshall, 26, from Craghead, near Stanley, said: “He was only a puppy at the contest and hadn’t been to puppy classes yet, so he was a little bit nervous to start with but he soon relaxed into it.”
Owner and pet have won a professional photo shoot by clinching the title.
The contest was staged to promote the hospice’s Paws for a Cause sponsored dog walk. Anyone who took part in the walk is asked to return their sponsorship money as soon as possible. The hospice’s telephone number is 0191-386-1170.
