A 12-YEAR-OLD boy was airlifted to hospital this morning (Monday, November 5) after he was struck by a car.
A police spokesman said the accident happened when the boy was hit by a VW Fox car in front of the general store in Park Road, South Moor, Stanley, County Durham, at 8.15am.
The boy, who suffered a bump on the head, was treated at the scene by members of the North East Ambulance Service, before the arrival of the Great North Air Ambulance.
He was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
