Now I know what a lot of you will be thinking, ‘what the hell is he banging on about now?’ and to be fair, I hadn’t heard much about Popperdopplers until a recent chat with Cockfield lady, Tina Wray.

Popperdopplers is the name of Tina’s new venture and I was keen to find out a bit for the blog so, in true interview style, here’s our question and answer session!

What is Popperdopplers all about?

Basically, Popperdopplers offers fun and educational workshops for children and events.  There’s French for the under 7’s, Craft Time, Egyptian Fun and also my brand new, unique, Times Tables Workshop.  There’s something for all ages and abilities from toddlers to teenagers (and beyond!)

Why Popperdopplers?

I believe in encouraging children to use their imagination and to hold on to the natural wonder they have in the world around them.  So, the name comes from imaginary characters I created for my own children when they were little.  Popperdopplers are small, very busy beings, who love to explore and learn new things. They 'pop' and 'dopple' here, there and everywhere, just like our own tiny fun-loving tots!   Initially, all my workshops were only for pre-schoolers but Popperdopplers has ‘grown up’ along the way!

I hear you have a very unusual character working for Popperdopplers?

That would be Stefan Sock.  He’s the puppet who runs Fun Time French with Stefan Sock  (with a little help from me, of course).  He has his own songs, games and activities and can be quite mischievous at times…children love him! He has recently become the star of his very own home study modules.  These are easy to use activity packs that require no previous knowledge of French from either child or adult.  You even get your very own Stefan Sock puppet free with the first module!

What about the other workshops you offer?

Well, Traditional Craft Time is all about allowing children to use their imagination to create their own models and masterpieces, although I do offer themed craft sessions on demand.

Egyptian Fun is exactly that…an Egyptian themed day (or half day) focussing on both ancient and modern day Egypt.  It includes a mini museum, dressing up and a variety of other activities including, learning to speak a bit of Ancient Egyptian and Arabic!

Times Tables Team Challenge is a new and unique way to help children to learn their times tables!  It’s received brilliant feedback already and I’m very excited about it.
