MILITARY WELCOME: Personnel from the Coldstream Guards will form a guard of honour as players from Sunderland and Aston Villa take to the field at the Stadium of Light tomorrow (November 3), as the Wearside club shows its support for the forthcoming Remembrance Day commemorations. It will be the seventh consecutive year members of the armed forces have performed such a role at the club.
BIKE RETURNED: The family of Stan Coates, 55, of West Herrington, Sunderland, who died in a collision on the city’s Burdon Lane on Friday, October 26, have expressed their thanks after his bike was returned. The bike was initially taken from the site of the crash by a man with good intentions but later returned. Police enquiries into the crash are continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Northumbria Police on 101.
