A NORTH-EAST supermarket is offering shoppers the chance to create a wall of remembrance during this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Sainsbury’s in Victoria Road, Darlington, has set up a message wall for people to leave tributes to armed forces members across the world.
Customers can pick up a special poppy-shaped card from display boxes on the store’s customer service desk.
The messages will be on view in the supermarket until Monday, November 5, before being sent to Royal Wootton Bassett, in Wiltshire, to be planted as part of The Royal British Legion’s national events.
James Dale, store manager at Sainsbury’s Darlington, said: “Our customers have always been supportive of The Royal British Legion in the past and the charity means a lot to this community.
“I hope our customers can help us to create a message wall which is a fitting tribute to our military heroes.”
