THE British Korean Veterans Association is appealing for war veterans who served in Japan and Korea throughout 1950 to 1952 to come forward.

The association is also looking for servicemen and women who served in the same places with the Peace Keeping Force in 1953 through to 1957.

The appeal includes former members of the Merchant Navy, NAAFI, Red Cross and WRVS.

Help is also needed to find photographs of 800 British servicemen who are buried at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery, in Busan, South Korea.

Authorities are appealing for families who lost a loved one during the Korean War in from 1950 to 1953 to donate photographs of them, which will be attached to their records and displayed in the cemetery hall of remembrance.

Some of the soldiers from the North-East include Ronald Leggett, Alfred Wilson, Ralph Barwick, Leonard Turnbull, Brian Swinbanks, Robert Smith, James Morris, Leslie Jackson, Thomas McNally and William Donaldson.
