A SPECTACULAR light show is bringing colour to the dark nights at a North-East seafront this weekend.
Shimmer is a free digital arts festival in Whitley Bay on Saturday and Sunday from 5pm-8.30pm.
The centrepiece of the event will see the town’s famous Spanish City dome lit up by a magical projection of vibrant colours.
Other new work includes Concrete Waves, a digital projection at Panama Dip skatepark and also a projection on to Waves Leisure Pool with animation from artist Robin Webb who worked with children at Coquet Park First School in Whitley Bay.
A spokesman for North Tyneside Council, which has organised the event, said: “Thousands of people were enchanted and inspired by last year’s inaugural festival and Shimmer 2012 promises to be an even bigger and better experience.
“It features the work of digital artists who have been commissioned to create installations that celebrate the traditions and timelessness of Whitley Bay, not least the town’s much-loved Spanish City fairground.”
