THE Three Peaks of Yorkshire are a tough enough challenge for the most hardened charity fund-raiser.
But intrepid hiker Paul Waugh deliberately made tackling Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough even tougher – by scaling all three on stilts.
The 49-year-old, from Brotton near Saltburn, admitted his legs were “like jelly” when he came to the end of his challenge.
But he succeeded in raising more than £500 for both his chosen charities – Breast Cancer Research and Daisy Chain – which supports children with autism.
"I have run the Three Peaks before, but this time it was a bit more rocky and, with the rain, was a hard slog up,” said Paul.
"There was low cloud on all three peaks which made it cold and it was windy.
"On top, you couldn't see a thing but as I climbed I passed people coming down who did a double take.”
