SHOPPERS in a North-East town can get extra value for money with the launch of a book of deals and discounts.

Available now, the Little Book of Offers contains money off vouchers for more than 25 shops and restaurants in Darlington.

National chains such as Subway and The Body Shop are participating in the scheme, along with independent retailers.

The project is being organised by the town centre’s business improvement district (BID) company, Distinct Darlington, with 15,000 books available for shoppers.

Vouchers can also be downloaded from distinctdarlington.co.uk Most of the offers are available throughout November, with some extending further.

Organisers are hopeful that the book of offers will attract shoppers into the town centre, both from Darlington and further afield.

Distinct Darlington manager Alex Swan said the company hopes this will be the first of many such schemes.

She said: “This has been done by other BIDs, in other parts of the country, which have seen some success, and we are looking to emulate that.

“People can pick up the book from participating retailers and our town centre rangers also have copies to hand out.

“We are hoping that this will be the first of many little books of offers, we hope to be able to build on this first project in the future.

“But it all depends on the success of this book.”

Among the local independent businesses taking part are David Jackson butchers and Craig Shields grocers, in the town’s historic Covered Market.
