FORMER international opera star Suzannah Clarke will star in a tenth annual charity concert next weekend.

The Teesside-born singer will perform in the Winter Concert organised by the County Durham and Teesside branch of the British Red Cross.

The event will be held at the Gala Theatre, in Durham, on Sunday, November 11.

It will be Ms Clark’s first major performance since the birth of her second child.

Having been the first British performer invited to North Korea and won a string of awards, she has reduced her workload in recent years to focus on her family, based in London.

Also performing at the concert will be teenage soprano Libby Paxton, whose debut at last year’s concert was enthusiastically received; Durham Constabulary Band; and the dancers and choir of Browney Primary School, in Browney, near Durham.

There will be a mix of operatic, light classical and modern music and the compere will be Fred Calvert.

All proceeds will go to the British Red Cross. The entertainment begins at 7pm.

Tickets cost £10, or £8 for concessions. To book, call 0191-3324041 or visit galadurham.co.uk
