PAST and present members of a boxing club – including former champions - are to pose for a charity calendar.

Proceeds from Darlington Boxing Academy’s 2013 calendar will go to St Teresa’s Hospice.

Paul Hamilton, 43, of Darlington, is a trainer at the academy, which has produced almost 40 British and European Champions in the past 25 years.

A total of 27 of champions will pose for a group picture, including the first champion, Danny Gayles, and the most recent, Ellis Corrie.

Mr Hamilton said: "Motocross rider Matthew Moffat who used to train at the club, along with Holly Fielding, a British Judo Champion and Neil Hepper, a professional boxer, will all feature in the calendar.

“Not only that, the kids that we train, aged from five to 11 will get a picture, as well as the ladies who come in for general fitness and self-defence and our amateur boxers.”

Mr Hamilton, who has been involved in the sport since he was 15, is a great believer of giving things back to the community.

He said: "Members from both sides of my family have been affected by cancer, so St Teresa’s Hospice seemed the right charity to support.”

The calendars, priced £5, which will be on sale from early December, will be available to buy from the gym in Portland Street, Darlington, and from members.

All profits will go to the hospice.
