POLICE have made an urgent appeal for information to help find a missing 62-year-old woman from Northallerton.

Margaret Dobson was last seen at her home in the town by her husband at around 11am today (Monday, October 29).

When she failed to return home later in the afternoon, he became concerned and contacted North Yorkshire Police.

Officers say they are very concerned for her safety as she has health problems and does not have her medication with her. Without it, her health will deteriorate significantly.

Police investigations so far show that Mrs Dobson bought a rail ticket to York for a train which would arrive in the city at around 12.20pm.

It is possible that she may have caught a train to another destination once she arrived in York.

Police are appealing to anyone who believes they have seen Mrs Dobson either at the railway station, using public transport, or out and about in York, or who knows of her current whereabouts, to contact them urgently.

She is described as white, around 5ft 6in tall, of slim build and has light brown and grey hair in a bob style. She has brown eyes and may be wearing glasses.

She was last seen wearing black shoes, black trousers and a green hip length raincoat which has dark coloured buttons and folds of fabric around the waist.

She was carrying a distinctive light coloured handbag with bamboo rings for handles. She may also be using a red umbrella.

PC Michael Wilson of Northallerton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are very concerned for Margaret’s safety, particularly as she does not have her medication with her.

“Margaret has links with various parts of the country including Northampton, Chepstow and Newcastle and it’s possible that she may intend to travel to any of these destinations.

“Margaret’s family are very distressed at her disappearance and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen Margaret since 11am today whether on a train or other form of public transport, or knows where she is now, to please contact us.

“Better still, if Margaret sees or hears this appeal, we urge you to please get in touch with family, friends or the police and let us know that you are safe.”

Anyone with any information which could help locate Mrs Dobson is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 12120182826.
