VISITORS to a North-East railway museum will be able to access the footplates of several locomotives which used to travel from London to Scotland.
The Cab It event is to take place at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon and it has the theme the railway races.
The event focuses on the Race for the North period in the late 19th century when British passenger trains raced each other from London to Scotland.
During Cab It visitors will be able to access the footplates of three locomotives which have links to the Race to the North – Stirling Single No. 1, Hardwicke and NER No. 1621.
Visitors can enjoy a steam train ride during at the museum as part of the event for a small extra fee.
The Cab It event is on Saturday and Sunday (Nov 3-4) with doors open between 10am and 4pm with free entry.
