POLICE investigating the death of a Redcar man say, despite rumours, there was nothing to suggest foul play.

The man has not been identified by Cleveland Police, but residents on the Lakes estate say he is John-John Iredale.

The body was found outside an address on Blakey Close at around 5am on Sunday. Paramedics attended, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed Mr Iredale was out walking his dogs prior to his death and was wearing a dark jacket, dark trousers and a red woolly hat.

Initial reports on social networking sites claimed police were investigating a fatal stabbing.

However, a spokeswoman said those claims were without foundation.

"A post mortem examination has been carried out and has revealed that the man died from natural causes," she said.
"A file will now be passed to the Coroner."

Local residents and friends of Mr Iredale – believed to be in his mid-30s and from the town - paid tribute to him.

Suzanna Cooper, who lives on the Lakes estate, said: “I grew up with him and we’ve been friends since we were 13. He was a good lad.”

Another local resident, Louise Lance, said: “John-John was lovely, he is going to be missed a lot. He was well-known in the community and well loved. He was a family man who looked after his step-children.”

Blakey Close and nearby Micklow Close were cordoned off by police for several hours following the discovery of the body.

Fire crews were also in attendance and assisted police at the scene.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Redcar and Cleveland CID on non-emergency number 101.
