SKATEBOARDING enthusiasts flocked to a Halloween-themed competition at a North Yorkshire skate park.

The recently opened 360 Skate Park in Richmond said competitors had come from Newcastle, Bridlington and Wakefield as well as the local area for a chance to win the top prize of a BMX bike.

Owners Lia Peters, Elkie Jimenez (correct) Peters and Joel Parkinson welcomed guests dressed as the Addams family.

Mrs Peters said: “We had Mexicans, Oompa Loompas, dinosaurs, zombies, skeletons, and a few car crashes I think.

“The competition was put together with Popcorn Skate in Northallerton, who supplied a magnificent array of prizes, and Arthur Caygill Cycles in Richmond kindly donated a BMX bike.

“We want to work with fellow businesses and organisations so we can provide a strong and happy future for extreme sports.

“BMX is now an Olympic sport and hopefully other disciplines the kids can practice here will soon be added to the Olympic list.

“It is just great to see the energy expended by the children and their total enthusiasm for what they do.”
