ARMED service veterans received special honours at the weekend.
Veteran’s Badges were presented to 17 former forces personnel in a ceremony at Neville Community Centre, Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.
The Rt Hon Colonel James Ramsbotham, Deputy Lieutenant of Durham, presented the badges on Saturday.
The recipients came from all over the county and others who were unable to attend the event will receive their badges at a later date.
Secretary of the community centre, Anne Hardy, said: “It was a lovely day, it was very important to those people to get recognition of their service. It is a thank-you from the Government.
“Volunteers put on a buffet, as a sign of appreciation, which was enjoyed.”
