A CHRISTMAS fair organised by an Armed Forces charity aims to raise money for current or former servicemen and women who need financial, practical or emotional support.

The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) will hold the Christmas fair on Saturday, December 1 in Catterick Garrison Leisure Centre and will include a range of stalls, activities and family entertainment.

The charity has been assisting military families for more than 125 years with the help of staff and volunteers.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “With Catterick Garrison and surrounding regiments currently deployed, the work of SSAFA Forces Help In-Service Committee Catterick - working across North Yorkshire - is more important than ever.

“The popular Christmas Fair provides a fantastic opportunity to get into the festive spirit while supporting a great charity.

“Children will be able to visit Santa in his grotto or take part in the many activities and games being hosted by local volunteers.

“We are delighted to announce that this year music will be provided by the Military WAGS Choir Catterick and the Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai band, as well as choirs from local schools.”

Entry into the fair is free and it is open from 10am until 4pm.
