DARLINGTON FC boss Martin Gray took time out from preparing for his side’s weekend fixture to coach the next generation of football talent.

The former Quakers midfielder, who also turned out for Sunderland during his playing career, held coaching sessions at the Dolphin Centre, in Darlington, yesterday (October 27).

He went on to watch his side record a 4-1 win at Billingham Synthonia.

Meanwhile, Quakers’ club shop in Darlington covered market has been closed until further notice, to allow strengthening work to take place on site, to accommodate security shutters at the stall.

The club shop is moving to a new stall within the market, after the eight-week lease on its previous location expired.

Darlington Borough Council, which runs the market, is carrying out the work.

Club chairman Denis Pinnegar said: “Unfortunately this is causing some fans considerable difficulty purchasing match day transport tickets.

“We had little or no notice of this move.”

Fans can still buy merchandise and travel tickets online at dfconlineshop.co.uk A small selection of items will also be on sale Darlington’s home games, at Heritage Park, Bishop Auckland.

It is understood the delay could be as long as two weeks, while the council instructs contractors to carry out the necessary work.

During the closure, home travel tickets can be booked by calling 01325-284035 or 01325-243911 for away travel.

There is also a dedicated mobile phone number for the shop, available during the hours of 10am to 4pm, on 07717-345-004.
