A CAMPAIGN has helped tenants save hundreds of pounds on fuel bills.
Dale and Valley Homes has taken on two staff members who are working with people in Wear Valley to help them use home heating more efficiently.
The scheme has identified an average saving of £131 per customer by switching tariffs and they located £21,000 in Warm Home Discounts.
Alyson Hodgson, Dale and Valley Homes energy advisor, said: “So many people could be on better tariffs or receiving more help than they are.
“The people we help are always very grateful for the help they receive, which can make a big difference to their weekly budget.”
Stan Atkinson, of Edgar Grove, Bishop Auckland, has saved £470 over two years due to the campaign.
He said: “I used to worry a lot about, if I couldn’t pay, would they cut me off. Everyone should do this, I really recommend it.”
