BRAIN injury sufferers went to the dogs for a special get-together.

A day at the Pelaw Grange Greyhound Stadium, Chester-le-Street was organised by Headway Durham and Chester-le-Street who invited other Headway groups in the region.

As well as racing, people enjoyed a carvery Sunday lunch.

The seventh race was the Headway Durham and Chester-le-Street Cup and gtoip committee member John Caulfield presented the cup to the winning owner.

Paul Brown, of Headway Wearside, said: "This event was an important opportunity for those with brain injuries and their families to meet others who are in a similar situation to themselves.

“The effects of brain injury can often lead to people becoming isolated and alone, unable to access appropriate services.

“Headway aims to provide support and help to brain injury survivors and this event is the perfect fun way to achieve that aim.”
