A WOMAN suffered several broken bones in a road traffic accident this evening.
The accident involving a Landrover Discovery and a Vauxhall Corsa happened in Chowdene, Gateshead, at about 8.35pm.
The driver of the Corsa, a woman in her 30s, was unconscious in the vehicle and she was quickly cut free by the fire service.
She was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment after suffering broken limbs.
The other driver was also cut from his car and taken hospital with suspected spinal injuries.
A passenger in the Discovery was also taken to hospital for for a precautionary check-up. A second passenger was uninjured.
