ARMY cadets performed for royalty at a Royal Albert Hall concert.
The Band and Bugles of Durham Army Cadet Force were among 200 military musicians who took part in Swift and Bold last Thursday, October 18, before an audience of 5,000 that included Prince Philip, Prince Edward and other royal family members.
The Durham contingent and counterparts from Somerset played alongside regular Rifles musicians and buglers and members of the Territorial Army.
Danny Roberts, of Durham Army Cadets, said: “This was a fantastic achievement for the cadets aged 12 to 18, plus the adult instructors from Durham, who have been practising for months for the performance.
“Sixteen-year- old Cadet Dan Smith impressed the director of music from the Rifles so much he was offered, and did a fantastic job of playing, a solo introduction to a piece call High on a Hill.”
