A MAN accused of murdering a great-grandmother in her home made his first appearance before a judge today (Wednesday, October 24).
Joseph Turner, 61, was remanded in custody until he is next at Teesside Crown Court on January 8 next year.
He appeared in front of Judge Simon Bourne-Arton, QC, this morning and spoke only to confirm his name.
Before the brief hearing, dark-haired Mr Turner, of Sanderson Street, Darlington, walked into the dock with a crutch.
He was arrested after police were called to a stabbing report at a house in the Spring Hill area of town on Friday night.
Mother-of-two Pamela Glen, 61, who is also known as Pamela Turner, was later pronounced dead at hospital.
A trial – which could last as long as seven days – could be held in mid-February, said prosecutor David Crook.
