ONE of the most widely performed plays of modern times is on its way to a North East theatre.

Bouncers, written by John Godber, will be performed at Darlington Civic Theatre from November 14 to 17.

To celebrate its imminent arrival, the theatre’s house managers Andy Hutchinson and Peter Tate got in on the act by transforming themselves into bouncers for a day.

The enduring play is Godber’s witty take on a Friday night out in a northern club and has toured extensively; proving a hit with audiences across the globe.

The show visiting Darlington will see former Eastenders and Coronation Street stars Ace Bhatti and Ian Reddington don the bouncers’ attire along with Don Gilet of The Line of Beauty and William Ilkley of Holby City.

Tickets cost from £18 and audiences are advised that the play contains strong language and scenes of a sexual nature unsuitable for children.
