TWO renowned crime writers discussed their work in the hallowed surroundings of Durham Cathedral tonight (October 23).
PD James and Ian Rankin took part in the Murder in the Cathedral event as part of Durham Book Festival.
At 92, PD James is regarded as the queen of crime fiction. She was awarded an OBE in 1983 and made a life peer in 1991. Her most recent best-selling novel is titled Death Comes to Pemberley.
Ian Rankin is best known for his award-winning Inspector Rebus and Malcolm Fox books.
The event was sold out.
The Durham Book Festival continues until Tuesday, October 30.
Tomorrow (October 24), much-loved poet Roger McGough will speak at Durham Cathedral at 7pm. Tickets are priced £6, £10 and £12.
There will also be a special Book Festival Evensong service celebrating the 350th anniversary of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. The service, beginning at 5.15pm, is free to enter.
