FIFTY years of James Bond will be the theme of one of the country’s biggest free firework displays next month.

The Stockton fireworks event, which usually attracts more than 25,000 people, takes place on the town’s Riverside on Monday, November 5.

The evening will start with TFM Radio’s Wayne and Amy at 6pm, followed by the fireworks from 7.30-8pm.

Ken Dixon, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The event is one of the highlights of our calendar and is enjoyed by residents of all ages. It is also a great boost for the town as it brings in people who spend money in our local restaurants and cafes.

“Our Bond-themed firework display will feature an incredibly medley of the most famous Bond movie themes.

In keeping with the Bond theme, there will also be a competition for the best Bond lookalike, run in conjunction with TFM, the event’s radio partner.

Anyone who believes they look like Bond – or one of the characters such as “Jaws” or “M” can send their entry to TFM Radio and end up on stage as one of the six finalists.

The winner will be judged by the radio hosts and a professional James Bond lookalike.

There will also be a fairground in the Dairy car park, opposite Riverside Road car park, and stalls selling refreshments.

All town centre car parks will be open.

The Millennium and Infinity Bridges will close 15 mins before the fireworks start and will reopen immediately after the display.
