WAITES (nee Hardie) Suddenly on Saturday 1st June 2024 Muriel Waites (nee Hardie). Dearly loved wife of Arthur, much loved mother of Paul, Liz, Helen and John and a caring and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Funeral Service to take place at St Edwin's Church, High Conniscliffe on Friday 21st June at 12.45. Followed by private cremation at Darlington Crematorium Chapel. Family flowers only. Condolences to all Muriel's family. My wife Sarah and I had visited Muriel about a month before she passed - as sharp as ever. We had a lovely, brief visit and heard wonderful things, as usual, about all the family and their adventures. Muriel and my mum, Dorothy, had met in their early nursing days, along with Arthur and Max, and kept up with each other for most of their lives. I have many fond memories of visits from early childhood up to this year. I will miss our yearly exchange of Christmas letters. An ever increasing portion of the family I do not know, but it was great seeing John and Maggie briefly this year, and seeing Helen, Liz and Simon in the past. I wish all of you strength to process the sadness of your sudden loss. To me, Muriel was ever an inspiration to live an active, interesting life.
