Brian WAYPER

WAYPER 5th April suddenly in hospital, of Spennymoor, formerly of Esh Winning. Brian (Big Brian) aged 72 years. A much loved husband, dad, grandad, brother, uncle and a dear friend of many. Would family and friends please meet at Durham Crematorium on Tuesday 30th April for a service at 11:00am.

Brian was one of the kindest, most gentle, thoughtful people I had the privilege to get to know. And such a generous gentle soul, he was always helping others. I got to know Brian through my late husband, and Brian’s brother in law, music journalist and punk poet, Gavin Martin. Gavin loved Brian, and they shared a love of music. Gavin credited Brian (and the love of Brian’s life, Brian’s wife and Gavin’s sister Sharon) with shaping his taste in music. Gavin often spoke of when he was growing up in Bangor, how he would look forward to Brian visiting for many reasons, including that knowing Gavin’s love of music, Brian would thoughtfully bring him vinyl. Brian touched the lives of many, to know him was to love him. There will be a huge vacuum in our lives and the world is now a darker place. Condolences to his wife Sharon, sons Paul and Sean and daughter Rachael, his grand children Sonny, Blake and Evie, his son in law Bobby, his sister in law Gillian , his brother David and sister in law Mary, his close friend Vicky and all those who knew him and loved him. We all love you and miss you Brian x
