COWPER Alderman John George Peacefully at home on December 4th, of Ushaw Moor. Alderman John George, aged 89 years, (formerly Durham City Councillor and Mayor of Durham), devoted husband of Marian, much loved dad of Lynn, David and Kay, father-in-law to Kevin, Monika and Steve and a much loved grandad. Friends please meet for service in Chester-le Street Salvation Army on Thursday 14th December at 2-30pm followed by cremation at Durham. All welcome for refreshments in Langley Moor Salvation Army afterwards. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be given after the service for "Daft as a Brush" and Chester-le-Street Salvation Army.
