THORNTON Michael George (Mike) Passed away peacefully at home on 10th April, aged 79 years of Sowerby. A beloved husband to Barbara, loving step-dad to Steven and Michael, much loved grandad to Ruby, brother to David and brother-in-law to Liz. Family flowers only please. A service of thanksgiving will take place at St Oswald's Church, Sowerby on Thursday 27th April at 12.30pm.

Mike was the sort of next door neighbour you can dream about. Always there with David tractor in hand to help us on our farm. His quick wit and stoic humour were always welcome although giving me 0 out of 10 for ploughing piqued a bit. When they left the farm we missed them enormously. Mike Lucy and I can't be there to personally say goodbye. But we send to Barbara David Liz Steven and all the family all our love mixed with great memories of a farmers life well lived.
