What was your first car?
It was a Daihatsu Feroza that I bought second or third hand in Sydney. It cost me $1,000 and broke down pretty much every time I turned the key.
How many times did it take to pass your driving test?
It took me three attempts in this country. I was taught by Kirsty, an awesome instructor who has since moved to New Zealand. It was in a new shape Mini One, diesel.
Who would be your ideal passenger and where would you like to go?
I would love to have Marco Pierre White as a passenger and go for at least a two-hour drive, possibly up to the Scottish Highlands. In my mind his book, White Heat, changed the way I was cooking, it was such a revelation. I had never even seen food like that before, it made me question what and why I was doing what I was. If he was "stuck" in the car with me for a couple of hours I bet I would get some great stories and inspiration.
What is your dream car?
I would have to say a Range Rover Sport. I have only ever driven one once and loved it. You never know, I may just have to get myself one…one day.
How would you describe your driving style?
Safe, although everyone else says it is like Driving Miss Daisy.
Tell me one driving anecdote from your past?
I once wrote my car off slipping on some diesel and now have a metal plate in my arm as a souvenir.
What are you listening to?
Radio 1. It's just a constant no matter the time day or night.
What do you drive now?
My fiancée, Nicola has a MINI Countryman. I got rid of my car when we opened the restaurant because the parking in Edinburgh is crazy and I got too many tickets to justify having one.
