“MY first car was a half-size Austin Rover Metro cabrio.
My father, Russ, ran the Rover display team in the 1980s and he said to me if I could balance our ride-on lawnmower on two wheels to the end of the field he’d get me a miniature car.
I remember it had a Honda generator engine and I used to drive it on two wheels so it had a ski on the side in case I went over too far.
When I was ten I went to Malaysia with Dad’s display team to launch the new Proton Knight to the Malaysian Royal family. The car went with us on the plane and was rebadged when we arrived as a Proton. I was part of the display performing my twowheel stunt and even took the Princess in the passenger seat.
My Dad still has it somewhere in the rafters of his garage. He’s keeping it for the grandchildren!
I’m currently running a Ford Focus ST and am awaiting delivery of a Ford Mustang.
I was lucky enough to drive the first of the new Mustangs at Goodwood Festival of speed last year and from then on I was determined to own one.”
