“I GOT my first car, a Morris Minor split screen, from my father when he got a new car.
“It would have been 50 or more years ago.
“It was a good little car. I went all over in it and never had any trouble. The photo was taken outside my mother’s house in Hewitson Road, Darlington.
“I went out in all sorts of weather conditions and it never me let down. I probably kept it for four or five years.
Terry Johnston today drives a Ford Fiesta ST3
“I drive a Ford Fiesta ST3 now as I wanted something a little more sporty. I have been with Ford for quite a few years, having owned Fiestas, Cortinas and a Capri 3000E.
“I have also owned Vauxhalls and a Triumph Herald. British cars have been easy to get parts for and I have found them largely trouble-free. There was only one car that I had any bother with and that was a Ford Escort that gave me trouble from the start.
“I was glad to see the back end of it and didn’t have it very long. I only had it three months when the back wheelbearing collapsed on me and it also used to cut out for no reason.”
