MY first car was an Austin 10, made in 1937.
The car’s registration was FMF 702 and I bought it in the early 1950s.
My wife and I were on holiday in Derbyshire and had been thinking of getting a car for some time. We saw this one in a showroom, test drove it and bought it.
I remember that it was a good runner, very reliable. It was started by a button rather than a crank handle, which was unusual at the time. I kept it for a few years and then wanted something slightly bigger, so sold it on.

The photo below is the car being hoisted onto a ferry, which I think was taken in Newhaven en route to Dieppe or Calais. We had several trips to France during the 1950s.
Ferries in those days were not drive-on like they are now and that was the usual method of transporting cars by boat.
