Here at Newcastle Building Society, we know how important it is to save for your future. We also know that saving isn’t always as easy as ditching your daily cup of coffee, so finding a home for your hard earned nest egg can be tough.
As the North East’s largest building society, we’ve been around for over 150 years, helping people save for their futures and their financial goals. Our brand new branch in the heart of Durham on Saddler Street, means branch manager Steven Hillary and his team can continue to help you with your savings and financial needs, all in the comfort of our new, stylish branch.
An exclusive savings account for Durham
To celebrate our brand new branch and to help our customers give their savings a little January boost for the year ahead, we’ve launched an account exclusively for Durham savers.
The Durham Six Month Bond is available at a fixed rate of 1.25% Gross*/ 1.26% AER** to open in Durham Branch for a limited period.
The account can be opened with a minimum of £500, up to £30,000 and allows no further investments or withdrawals until its maturity on 31st August 2018, when it will automatically mature into an easy access Community Saver Account.
Interest can be paid monthly or at the end of the term. You can also open this account as an ISA, which will allow you access to your funds subject to 30 days loss of interest.
For more information, or to open an account, please pop into the branch at 73/75 Saddler Street and speak to a member of the team who will be more than happy to help you. Or you can give us a call on 0191 3843182 to make an appointment.
Join us at our official opening
Join us in our Durham Branch on Friday 16th February, 11am – 2pm for our official opening event.
There’ll be drinks and canapes and we’ll be joined by local boxing coach Alex Oliver, who has been awarded a British Empire Medal in the New Year’s Honours for his services to charity and community. He’ll be helping us cut the ribbon to officially open the branch and we’ll also announce the lucky winner of our Durham City Treasure Hunt, in association with the Northern Echo.
*'Gross' interest is the contractual rate of interest payable. **'AER' stands for the Annual Equivalent Rate, a notional rate which illustrates what the interest rate would be if paid and compounded on an annual basis.
