At Newcastle Building Society, community is at our core. As the North East’s largest Building Society, we have more branches across the region than any other Society. These branches are the gateway to our communities and they continue to be at the heart of the service we provide to our customers.
While other banks and building societies are closing branches, we’re committed to providing access to our products and services, particularly face to face financial advice, on the high street.
Your new Newcastle Building Society branch and financial advice centre at 73/75 Saddler Street is our latest high street investment, placing us right in the heart of Durham.
The newly designed branch continues to offer our customers a traditional counter service and private meeting spaces to help you discuss your needs with our advisers.
Community Support
It’s been almost two years since we launched our Newcastle Building Society Community Fund in association with the Community Foundation, a North East focused charity we’ve worked with for over 25 years. This fund, supported by our members through our charity-linked community savings accounts, allows us to give grants to community groups, charities and good causes through our branches.
So far, the Newcastle Building Society Community Fund has awarded more than £142,000 in grants to over 81 community projects across the North East, including several in and around Durham.
Last year, Laurel Avenue Community Association received a grant of £1,000 to support a weekly lunch club for the elderly residents of Sherburn Road Estate in Durham. The funds are helping to cover rental costs and food budget. The Club helps around 25 older residents socialise and enjoy a hot meal each week.
