MORE than 30 jobs are being created with the launch of a document scanning business in Northumberland.

UK Digital Storage opened its 10,000sq ft base in Blyth last Thursday.

The base includes a large warehouse to archive documents and scanning equipment.

The company was awarded a grant by regional development agency One NorthEast to help finance business growth in the next five years and create more than 30 jobs.

David Bryce, managing director of UK Digital Storage, said: I am absolutely delighted to be opening our new premises.

The new facilities provide the capacity to securely store more than 38,000 archive boxes and our document scanning bureau can handle over two million documents per month.'' Ken Samson, business finance manager for One NorthEast, said: "The grant will help the company create more than 30 new jobs, which is fantastic, particularly in relation to the Regional Economic Strategy, which targets the creation of new jobs.

It is clear if we are to achieve this, companies like UK Digital Storage have a very important role to play."
