A COMPANY that specialises in environmental protection systems has moved to the North-East and created 11 jobs.

Swedish firm Trelleborg Epros has invested in premises at Follingsby Park, in Gateshead, which will become the company's UK base, and the headquarters for its international trade.

Founded in 1992, the company is involved in the international pipe and sewer repair market, and exports to 42 countries.

Trelleborg Epros helped find the Gateshead site with Tyne and Wear Development Company.

Danielle Colligan, operations manager for Trelleborg Epros in the UK, said: "Tyne and Wear is an excellent base for us. The facilities here are good and we have access to a ready-made workforce with first class skills."

Paul Buie, manager of Tyne and Wear Development Company, added: "This is another shot in the arm for the regional economy and shows Tyne and Wear remains an attractive proposition for inward investors."
