SO the secret is finally out - Mowden Park can finally reveal that the All Blacks will be holding an Open Event during their stay at the club.
The New Zealand rugby team will be calling Mowden Park's Northern Echo Arena home for a week from October 4 as they prepare to play Tonga in Newcastle, as part of their 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign.
The event, expected to be one of the biggest community events staged during the tournament, will take place on the morning of Thursday, October 8 and will be available to watch for up to 4,000 spectators.
The day will involve a coaching session for young children delivered by select members of the All Blacks squad as well as a question and answer and signing session with the squad.
Tickets for the event are free but will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
Application forms can either be downloaded from the official Mowden Park website or collected in person from the Northern Echo Arena or the Dolphin Centre in Darlington, where a select number of tickets will be available.
Photo identification must be presented and the deadline for applications is 5pm on Tuesday, October 6.
Anyone who obtains a ticket for the event will receive free entry to Mowden Park’s next home game at the Arena against Loughborough on October 17.
On the domestic front, Mowden Park suffered their second successive defeat against Rosslyn Park on Saturday going down 26-17.
Losing first-half try-scorer Bruno Bravo for two yellow cards, Mowden were only a point down at the interval after restricting the Londoners’ advantage to 11-10.
Back-rower Hugo Ellis opened the scoring with the first of Rosslyn Park’s three tries, hooker Simon Uzokwe responding for Mowden after his brace last week against Henley Hawks.
Mike MacFarlane grabbed the home side’s second try with Ellis’ second wrapping things up.
Next up for Mowden Park is another trip to London to face Blackheath, the second of their four successive away games.
As mentioned earlier, Mowden Park's next home game is on October 17 against Loughborough. For those not lucky enough to get the free entry via the All Blacks event, tickets are priced at U16s free, concessions £8, club and members £8 and adults £10.
Match day hospitality will also be available for the game priced from £20pp which includes a two-course lunch, guest speaker, match day programme and entry to the game.
