It’s been a couple of week since the last column and I didn’t want people to think anyone was hiding due to a few losses. Plus, I know certain peoples’ weeks are ruined when they don’t hear from me, and who am I to ruin peoples’ weeks?
It’s been a bit of a testing time of late as for the first time since I signed not everything is going our way. We’ve slipped up a few games of late and teams really seem to - and rightly so - raise their game against us. It’s fine lines in football and it can turn very quickly either way. I’m very confident we will turn it back round starting Saturday. One thing that hasn’t changed or turned is the atmosphere in the changing rooms. There is a huge togetherness that’s installed from the management and everyone is working their hardest to bring success to the club. We will keep that togetherness as it comes natural to the people at the club and keep trying to win every game we play.
A few of the lads went out Saturday and we were followed by Spennymoor Town players Dan Groves, Nathan Fisher and Chris Mason. Nathan chatted a lot about fishing and invited me along to view, in his words, “a great catch” he had got earlier that day. I declined the offer as it’s not really my thing, especially on a night out. I didn’t really get much out of my good pal Chris as he was mainly sat in the squat position all night, while Dan was occupied by ten gentlemen who didn’t agree with his clothing. All in all we had a great night. Best dressed was probably myself in all honesty, closely followed by Leon Scott who gets better looking every hour of the day. Terry Galbraith tried with a shirt and tie combo, but the fact he pulled me outside twice to do his tie means I can’t put him any higher than third.
I’ll finish off by mentioning David Dowson. Up there with the greatest guys on earth, he is doing a 320-mile bike ride over three days in the summer and looking for help in terms of sponsorship. I’m sure he’d appreciate anyone interested in helping him in any way, if you are interested drop him a little tweet.
Hopefully my next column will be talking about positive results and how the club pulled through a sticky patch together.
