Saturday’s game at Prescot is the start of a busy month of away fixtures for us.
After our trip across the M62 on Saturday, we’re away to Droylsden next Saturday, then we’re away in midweek to Mossley on March 17th, Clitheroe on the 24th and New Mills on the 30th, so we’ll know all about those roadworks on the A1.
We’re taking each game as it comes. We have 15 games left, but not really set ourselves a points target. We’re aiming to keep our unbeaten run going by putting a few wins together.
But after seeing Darlington drop six points from their last two games, it proves that anything can happen in this league. There a lot of really good teams in this league, and it can be unpredictable. For example, Prescot lost heavily to Salford last week, but then went and won at Harrogate RA on Monday night.
We weren’t our usual selves against Mossley last Saturday, but even so it could be a good point from the 2-2 draw in the end when it comes to the play-off reckoning. Too many of our lads were under par, and we didn’t play our usual passing style of football. The balls into Mossley’s box weren’t of the usual quality that we like to put into the opposition penalty area.
So hopefully we can put that right at the weekend. We’ve had a week to prepare for it – and that’s a good job really because as well as those away games in the league, we’ve got a big Durham Challenge Cup semi final on Tuesday against Shildon, who beat us in the final last season, and league games at home against Farsley, Clitheroe and Warrington.
So a hectic month ahead!
